Thabazimbi (meaning: mountain of iron) is located in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. It is connected with Rustenburg, Brits, Bela-Bela (Warmbaths) and Lephalale (all are approx. 130km from Thabazimbi). Pretoria is a mere 190km south-east of Thabazimbi. The town is situated at the feet of the Ysterberg and surrounded by mountains (Witfonteinrand, Boshofberg and Kransberg).

Thabazimbi is known for the large iron ore reef that was discovered in 1919. More than 2 tons of ore is mined each year.

The Marakele National Park is about 20km from Thabazimbi – in the heart of the Waterberg Mountains.
