De Poort Country Lodge in Oudtshoorn is close to the Cango Wildlife Ranch, Buffelsdrift Game Farm, Cango Ostrich Farm, Rust-en-Vrede Waterfall, Cango Caves and Swartberg Pass.

17km en route to the world famous Cango Caves, situated in the foothills of the majestic Swartberg Mountains, with breathtaking views of green valleys and hills, a quiet Karoo guest lodge with thatched roofs and natural brick melts into its surroundings. The lodge is owned and managed by Leon, Rita and Leorita Groenewald and offers the discerning traveler homely and comfortable en suite accommodation. We offer eight en suite rooms, a dining hall and bar, off-road parking near the rooms, a salt-water swimming pool, beautiful natural scenery and an invigorating hiking trail. Each of De Poort’s rooms was named after the wild animals that can be found in the area and every room is decorated individually to enhance the atmosphere of a traditional guest home.

By prior arrangement home cooked meals is served South African style and by lamplight. We specialise in delicious ostrich fillets and traditional Karoo lamb. A sustainable, full English breakfast is served everyday to give guest energy for their daily activities.

Come and experience our Klein Karoo hospitality, fresh air, sparkling mountain water and incredible stargazing. We are perfectly situated for bird watching and enjoying the unusual plants and succulents of the Little Karoo.
